What does the Bureau do?

The Administrative Services Bureau (ASB) of the Division of Health Improvement (DHI) provides administrative support to the Division’s staff. The bureau’s responsibilities include:

Activities

The Administrative Services Bureau is responsible for gathering, tracking, reporting and analyzing financial information and guiding the development of the DHI budget within allocated State and Federal funds. Requests for training, equipment and supplies are processed through the purchasing and vouchering system; and travel reimbursement requests are processed for staff members.

The Bureau has oversight of the Caregivers Criminal History Screening Program that conducts activities through the authority of the Caregivers Criminal History Screening Act: receiving applications and fingerprints from caregivers seeking employment by care providers in the State of New Mexico.

Personnel related activities for DHI are addressed through the Human Resources Administrator of ASB. Personnel actions, payroll, new employee orientation and the explanation of benefits are among the several services provided for employees.

The Quality Improvement Section of ASB provides guidance and facilitation for internal quality improvement of systems, policies and procedures to the Division and its bureaus. Activities such as data collection, tracking, analysis, and reporting are key to determining the identification of trends and underlying systems issues related to the DHI/DOH strategic plan, operational plan, administrative policies and employee development/training plans.
