What Does This Program Do?

The New Mexico State Registry Provides:

Be prepared to provide the social security number of the nurse aide. If the certificate status is something other than "active" you may speak with the New Mexico representative to ascertain if any adverse action exists.

RECIPROCITY OF NURSE AIDE

Nurse aides currently employed or seeking employment in any facility located in New Mexico, and who have successfully completed a nurse aide training and received a satisfactory competency evaluation program in another state, may request placement on the New Mexico Registry. The certificate must be active and in good status.

To obtain reciprocity the applicant must provide documentation as follows:

The New Mexico Nurse Aide Registry office will complete a formal verification process using the information provided and mailing to the certifying state. If the nurse aide is reported to be in "good" status, the nurse aide may be permitted to work in a provisional status (up to 30 days), until written verification is received. This verification process normally takes three to six weeks to be received from the certifying state.
